Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource Église Saint Germain de Charonne / Church of Saint Germain de Charonne / シャロンヌのサンジェルマン教会 Description An account of the resource Cette église est située au centre de l’ancien village de Charonne, juste à côté de la mairie. C’est ici que l’évêque d’Auxerre a donné sa bénédiction à une jeune fille de 6 ans. C’est sur ce lieu de leur rencontre qu’a été érigée cette église. Un peu plus tard, cette jeune fille deviendra la patronne de Paris : Sainte Geneviève. L’embasement date du 13e siècle et les parties extérieures sont achevées en 1450. Le clocher est toujours là. Il est rare de voir au centre de Paris une église aussi bien conservée, aussi typique que celles que l’on rencontre dans les campagnes. A l’époque où j’ai réalisé ce dessin, il restait encore des vestiges de cet ancien village, mais la ville a évolué et le paysage a complètement changé. Au moment de ce dessin, l’église était en pleine restauration. Il est très fréquent de voir des bâtiments en cours de restauration dans la capitale française. C’est une gestion architecturale complètement différente de celle du Japon, qui préfère raser et reconstruire. This church was in the centre of the old village of Charonne with its neighbouring public office. There used to be the vestiges of the old village around here when I drew this but now they have been lost because of development.Saint-Germain, the bishop of Auxerre, met a 6 year old girl here for the first time who was to become Saint Geneviève, the guardian goddess of Paris. He gave her his blessing so the church was built in remembrance. The bell tower and its base are of the 13th century and the exterior was completed in 1450. It was restored because the building was damaged but it is rare for such rustic churches to be carefully restored in the city. Restoration works can be seen all over in the Paris.
