Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. A l’extrême sud-est, elle débouche sur le parc des Buttes Chaumont et au nord-ouest sur une zone industrielle. La rue coupe les axes de Paris en direction du nord-est. Dans les années 70, la zone de l’avenue de Flandre en direction de la Belgique, se développe avec la construction de grands bâtiments et d’immeubles d’habitations. Mais en passant par les petites rues, on retrouve encore l’architecture désorganisée des quartiers populaires d’autrefois. C’est aussi dans ce périmètre que l’on trouve de nombreuses administrations dédiées au social, telles que la Sécurité sociale, le Centre d’Action Sociale ou des restaurants solidaires gratuits accueillant les plus pauvres. L’illustration a été dessinée depuis la passerelle qui traverse le canal. Au n°129, l’imprimerie qui faisait aussi librairie était tenue par un trafiquant qui fut emprisonné, puis libéré en 1972. Il créa une association pour améliorer la vie des anciens détenus et en devint le président. Mais il fut de nouveau arrêté, suite à la découverte d’une montagne de faux billets dans son imprimerie. J’ai pris connaissance de cette histoire en lisant un article du journal du 28 août 1986. Je l’ai découpé et conservé en souvenir. This is a long street, skewering 19 districts in a straight line for 2.5 kilometres. At the south-eastern end is the hill of the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont while at the north-western end is an industrial estate. It crosses the major avenues running north-east from Paris radially, one after another. The region around Avenue de Flandre, running toward Belgium, was developed in the 1970s and is lined with high-rise buildings and housing estates. One street back from this you see these buildings mixed with overcrowded housing for the working people of the lower town. Municipal offices related to social security, welfare, soup kitchens and other buildings for similar purposes are also gathered around here.I drew this work from the top of the pedestrian walkway over the canal. The owner of the printing factory linked to the bookstore at number 129 was jailed for armed robbery. He was discharged in 1972 and established the association for improvement of ex-prisoners’ lives, ultimately being appointed chairman for the campaign to improve the treatment of former inmates. However, a cache of forged banknotes was discovered and he was arrested. A newspaper reported, on August 28, 1986, that he was two-faced.
