Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource L’Hôtel du Nord / The Hôtel du Nord, Quai de Jemmapes / ジェマップ河岸の北ホテル Description An account of the resource Sous la place de la Bastille, en plus du cimetière, il y a un canal sous-terrain qui part du nord de Paris pour déboucher sous cette place afin de se déverser dans la Seine. En remontant ce canal, dont la partie souterraine fait penser au Styx, on arrive à l’Hôtel du Nord, juste en face de la deuxième écluse. C‘est là qu’est tourné le film Hôtel du Nord en 1937. Ce chef-d’oeuvre réalisé dans un studio reproduisait fidèlement le quartier et ce bâtiment. Depuis, nombreux sont ceux qui viennent visiter avec nostalgie cet endroit situé dans un quartier populaire. En septembre 1984, la mairie de Paris a autorisé la démolition de l’hôtel qui était dans un état de délabrement avancé, mais, un mouvement regroupant des écrivains, des cinéastes et des fans s’y est opposé. Finalement, une solution originale fut trouvée : seule la façade serait conservée et placée devant une nouvelle construction. Jadis, ce quartier était un rebut d’immondices appelé Montfaucon. Bien avant, il servait de lieu d’exécution des criminels. Pendant 500 ans, du 13e siècle à la période précédant la Révolution française, le lieu servait à effrayer la population, en lui montrant les peines encourues par les criminels pendus à la potence, l’équivalent de Suzugamori au Japon sous l’ère Edo. Ce n’est que plus tard que l’endroit est transformé en dépotoir. Des archives témoignent de l’existence, jusqu’au 19e siècle, d’indigents venant fouiller les poubelles et chercher de la nourriture parmi les ordures. Cette nourriture était vendue et revendue aux plus pauvres de la société, ce qui provoquait quotidiennement de graves problèmes sanitaires. Cette sérigraphie a été réalisée à l’époque du bâtiment d’origine. Ici, les bateaux circulent sur le canal entre les immeubles. C’est un espace idéal pour faire des balades reposantes. La chaussée est au même niveau que l’eau, ce qui permet de voir passer des péniches aux allures originales et de profiter du spectacle offert par les écluses. While there is a burial crypt beneath the Place de la Bastille, beside it is a long and wide underground canal which flows from the northern canal in Paris and into the Seine. The Hôtel du Nord is situated at the first lock for water level adjustment after this long, Stygian underground waterway ends. The hotel was replicated in a studio set to produce the famous French film “Hôtel du Nord” in 1937 and many people visited this place in the lower town after their nostalgic feelings were aroused. In September 1984 the City Hall in Paris permitted demolition of the then dilapidated building but it sparked vehement protests among writers, the film industry and fans. Eventually, they decided to preserve the exterior of the building only which is somewhat incongruously superimposed on a modern building. I made this print while the original hotel building still stood.In the past, Montfaucon served as a municipal dump for Paris. Even before it was a place of execution, like Suzugamori in Tokyo. There had been a huge gallows here for 500 years, from the 13th century until just before French Revolution, and serious criminals were hanged as a warning to others. Later, it turned into the waste facility for Paris. There are horrific records of poor people scavenging leftovers and rubbish upon which to live until the 19th century. Leftovers were sold and resold to the poorest of the poor, much like what happened in Kitcho but a commonplace occurrence.Ships traverse the canal between city buildings. The scenery with its characteristic barges and locks bringing the waterway almost level with the roadway produces a heart-melting promenade. バスチーユ広場の地下は、墓所もあるが、その脇を長く広い地下運河も通っていて、パリの北方を巡る運河から、セーヌ河への出口でもある。この三途の川みたいな長い地下水路を抜けて表に出て、第一の水位調整の閘門のところに「北ホテル」がある。　ここと、そのままそっくりのセットをスタジオに作って、一九三七年フランス映画の名作「北ホテル」が作られたので、ノスタルジーにかられて、下町のこの場所をわざわざ訪れる人も多かった。一九八四年九月、パリの市役所では、老朽化したこの北ホテル取り壊しの許可を出したが、作家、映画界、ファンたちの猛反対運動。結局は建物の外観だけ保存されることになって、現代ビルに貼り付ける、変な具合になっている。版画はまだ建物があって、ホテルだった最後の時代に制作した。　この辺り、昔は「モンフォーコン」と呼ばれるパリの塵芥捨て場、もっとその前は江戸の鈴ヶ森みたいに、大きな犯罪人の処刑場で、大型の絞首台が十三世紀からフランス革命の少し前まで五百年もあって、見せしめに吊るされていたりしたところ。それからパリの、塵捨て場になった。十九世紀まで残飯や塵芥アサリをして生活をする、壮絶な貧民たちの姿や、記録が伝えられている。残飯は二度、三度とたらい回しして売られ、下層社会に活用され、現代の「吉兆騒動」など、当たり前のことだったようだ。　現在は運河を船が、市内のビルの間を通って走る。特徴ある独特の内陸用貨物船の運航や、水位調節の水門のある風景で、道路と並行する同じ高さの水辺なので、心をなごませる散歩道だ。 Creator An entity primarily responsible for making the resource Kojiro Akagi (1934-2021) Date A point or period of time associated with an event in the lifecycle of the resource 1989 Rights Information about rights held in and over the resource Fonds de dotation Kojiro AKAGI Format The file format, physical medium, or dimensions of the resource Sérigraphie, Atelier Del Arco, 100 tirages + 11 E.A. romain, sur papier Arches 49,5 x 64,5 cm.
