Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource L’Hôtel de Sully / Residence of the Duke of Sully / シュリー屋敷 Description An account of the resource C’est un hôtel particulier dont le nom est un hommage à Sully, ministre des Finances d’Henri IV. Il est occupé par sa famille de génération en génération. Sa construction démarre en 1624 pour durer 30 années. C’est un hôtel particulier du style classique époque Louis XIII. Il est aujourd’hui propriété de l’État, tout en servant de salle pour certaines expositions. On y trouve également l’administration gérant les Monuments Historiques de France. Après la Révolution française, les immeubles du quartier sont habités par une classe plus populaire et les hôtels particuliers sont divisés et transformés en ateliers manufacturiers. À partir des années 60, naît un mouvement visant à préserver le patrimoine en tant que ressource touristique. Les bâtiments ne peuvent plus être ni démolis, ni remplacés et se doivent de conserver leur style d’origine. Avant cette politique de sauvegarde du patrimoine, un projet urbain voulait créer un Paris à la fois moderne et agréable en détruisant ces vieux hôtels défraîchis. Le Centre Pompidou, qui est apparu au centre d’un vieux quartier, en est un exemple. En regardant une vieille photo de cet hôtel particulier, je constate qu’un grossiste de papier s’y était installé, et je remarque une différence architecturale avec l’ajout d’un étage entre le rez-de-chaussée et le premier étage. Je suis allé le dessiner après que le bâtiment ait été racheté par l’Etat et qu’il ait été restauré conformément à l’original. The construction of this residence started from 1624 and lasted for 30 years. Henry IV’s minister the Duke of Sully acquired it and his descendants lived there, so it retains the name today. This residence is a good example of Louis XIII’s style, that is the French classical style, and it is now owned by the nation. Here various exhibitions are held at the salon and the administrative office in charge of management and maintenance of historical buildings in France is located.After the French Revolution, residences around here were inhabited by common people and they were divided to become workplaces for domestic industries. From the 1960s the movement to maintain them started because old things cannot be recovered and the building of original style should be restored as tourist attractions. Until that time, urban renewal saw to the demolition of dusty old residences to make Paris modern and comfortable. One good example is that the Pompidou Centre suddenly appears in the old surroundings. The building looked rather different in a photo which was taken before the restoration started, showing a paper wholesaler as an occupant and a mezzanine was added in front of it.
