Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource Rue aux Ours / The Rue aux Ours / 熊通り Description An account of the resource Cette vue a été prise derrière le centre Georges Pompidou. On y trouvait autrefois des grossistes de vêtements et de sous-vêtements. C’est une rue qui existe depuis le 13e siècle. Ce bâtiment était celui du plus important grossiste de chapeaux pour femme, l’équivalent d’un discounter aujourd’hui. Jusqu’à la moitié du 20e siècle, il y avait une distinction claire entre le vêtement, le sous-vêtement, les accessoires, le tissu, la maille etc., et chaque rue avait sa spécialité. Bien avant, cette rue était occupée par des marchands de fourrure, d’où le nom de cette rue : rue aux Ours. Le 3 juillet 1417, un soldat ivre sort d’un cabaret et frappe d’un coup de couteau une statue de la vierge Marie qui se met à saigner. C’est pourquoi, chaque 3 juillet, une fête est organisée. On tire un feu d’artifice et on fait déambuler une poupée géante. Cette cérémonie dure jusqu’à la Révolution française. Aujourd’hui, au sud de cette rue, les voies ont été élargies et les bâtiments remplacés par des immeubles modernes. De l’autre côté, au nord, le vieux visage de Paris a été conservé. Bien que Yoji Yamamoto et Jean-Paul Gauthier aient leurs collections exposées dans des quartiers chics, le siège de leur société est domicilié dans ce quartier discret. Encore aujourd’hui, c’est ici que sont exposées leurs nouvelles collections et que les professionnels viennent négocier et acheter. Behind the Centre Pompidou, wholesalers of knitted underwear and clothing called medias lined this street. It has existed since the 13th century and, together millinery, they were the big wholesalers of mass-produced, ready-made cheap goods. Until the middle of the 20th century, dresses and clothes made of thin fabric and knitted clothes, underwear and clothing accessories were also classified differently, each industry assembling in its own street.Much earlier than this, fur dealers gathered in this street giving rise to the name Rue aux Ours. According to legend, on July 3rd 1417 a drunken soldier came out of a cabaret and slashed the statue of the Virgin Mary which started bleeding. So it is said that festivals were held on that day in this street every year with fireworks and puppets on floats until around the time of the French Revolution.Today, the south side of the street has been demolished to build modern houses and the street has been broadened and changed, yet the north side retains the old visage. We can see a beautiful array of goods at the flamboyant, high-class shopping district including Yoji Yamamoto, Jean Paul Gaultier and so on. Their headquarters are around here, though hidden from general customers, as well as specialised businesses supplying them.
