Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource L’Hôtel de Ville de Paris / The Paris City Hall / パリ市役所 Description An account of the resource Il y a plus de 650 ans, en haut de ce débarcadère, l’Hôtel de Ville était occupé par les magistrats parisiens et le corps de commerce. Le roi était dans son palais, il gérait les affaires du pays, le territoire royal et celui de l’église. La ville de Paris avait son propre pouvoir. L’histoire de Paris est celle d’une ville autonome. La construction de ce magnifique hôtel de ville commence en 1533 et s’achève en 1628. Il est complètement incendié lors du soulèvement populaire de 1871, appelé Commune de Paris. En 1882, sous la troisième république et après 10 ans de travaux, ce palais est reconstruit sous la forme qu’on lui connaît aujourd’hui. Cent cinquante statues de personnages célèbres ornent l’ensemble du bâtiment. Les murs intérieurs sont décorés de tableaux réalisés par de grands artistes de l’époque. Lorsque l’on est face à eux, on a l’impression d’être dans un musée proposant une collection complète d’œuvres d’art d’une époque précise. Il serait difficile de voir regroupée dans un vrai musée une telle collection ! Paris City Hall has stood in front of this harbour for over 650 years. It used to be governed by Paris magistrates and tradesmen’s unions. Paris has been ruled autonomously, never by the King or any kingdom, nor has it been ecclesiastical property. Work on this fantastic building started in 1533 and finished in 1628. However, during the time of the Paris Commune (a time of civil war of Paris) in 1871, during which Parisians stood up for the system of self-government, the building was burnt down. It took 10 years to repair and in 1882, at the time of French Third Republic, repairs were completed. The building has been standing since then. 150 famous people at the time of the repair were chosen and their statues were exhibited in various places within the building and the inside walls were covered with the paintings by veteran artists.
