Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource Le restaurant Fouquet’s sur les Champs Élysées / Fouquet’s restaurant, Champs-Élysées / シャンゼリーゼのフウケッツ・レストラン Description An account of the resource J’ai dû réaliser ce tableau en m’installant avenue George V, car la réglementation interdit d’effectuer des prises de vue, sur trépied ou sur chevalet, sur l’avenue des Champs-Élysées elle-même. L’immeuble du Fouquet’s date de 1863. À l’origine, le rez-de-chaussée était un bistrot fréquenté par les cochers. Il devient un bar en 1869, puis un restaurant à partir de 1913. En 1958, le Fouquet’s est entièrement rénové et son décor reste préservé jusqu’à nos jours. En 1990, on envisage une modernisation, mais le projet est rapidement abandonné sous la pression des fidèles du lieu, qui veulent le conserver en l’état. Le 10 décembre de cette même année, l’immeuble est inscrit aux Monuments Historiques, ce qui oblige le restaurant à conserver son décor d’origine, à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur. Dès les années 40, le Fouquet’s devient un des lieux favoris de réunions et de rendez-vous pour les nombreuses sociétés de cinéma et de spectacle qui foisonnent dans le quartier, le Triangle d’Or. On dit que c’est ici que sont nés de nombreux projets de films de la Nouvelle Vague dans les années 60… Depuis 1975, c’est aussi au Fouquet’s, au premier étage, que se tient le dîner de Gala des César du cinéma français. En 2007, sous la direction du nouveau propriétaire, une partie du bâtiment est transformée en hôtel de luxe. En mai de cette même année, à peine élu, Nicolas Sarkozy s’y rend afin de retrouver les stars qui l’ont soutenu. Puis le nouveau président descend les Champs-Élysées jusqu’à la place de la Concorde, salue ses fans, et s’en retourne passer la nuit à l’hôtel du Fouquet’s… Je me souviens que, à quelques pas de là, au dernier étage d’un immeuble, sous les toits, se trouvait le siège de l’Association Amicale des Ressortissants japonais en France. Elle a occupé ces lieux de juillet 1981 à novembre 2008. On the Champs-Élysées, traffic regulations prohibit activities which interfere the flow of traffic such as selling goods, filming and drawing. This was therefore drawn from l’Avenue George V. It was built in 1863 and the ground floor was once a popular pub for coachmen. In 1899 it started as a bar then became a restaurant in 1913. Refurbishment took place in 1958. There was a plan to rebuild and modernize but people protested, insisting that the scene of their memories should be preserved. As a result, the building was registered as a historical landmark and any decoration or refurbishment was no longer permitted, however the shop signs were removed.There were many offices of film production or entertainment businesses around there and since the 1940s this place was filled with these business people for meetings. The French New Wave film movement was said to have been born here. Also the Césars party, for the national film awards in France, has taken place on the first floor of this café since 1975. In 2007 it had a new owner who opened a luxury hotel above the café. The newly elected president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, visited here first to meet and chat with his supporters and made a public appearance in Place de la Concorde before he stayed overnight at this hotel.
