Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Puis elle est intégrée au palais du petit frère du Louis XIV, Louis-Philippe d’Orléans. C’est ce palais qui est aujourd’hui connu sous le nom de Palais Royal. Très endetté, Louis-Philippe d’Orléans fait construire cet ensemble avec arcades autour du jardin, afin de spéculer et d’en tirer profit. Ce qu’il réussit pleinement.Avant la révolution française, ce lieu est à la mode, dynamisé par la concentration de restaurants, bars, théâtres, boutiques, prostitués, casinos et autre réjouissances. Cet événement marquera le déclenchement de la révolution française… This courtyard originally belonged to Richelieu, a chief minister appointed by Louis XIII, but later it was owned by Louis XIV’s brother The Duke of Orléans and became known as the Palais Royal Garden. When Duke of Orléans was having a hard time financially he built an apartment and a profitable shopping arcade. Everything gathered here - restaurants, cafes, theatres, shops, prostitutes and casinos. It was the most fashionable and the busiest area at the time of the French Revolution.On July 12th 1789 citizens gathered to hear the speech of the lawyer Camille Desmoulins. They took leaves from the palm garden in front of the Café de Foy and wore them on their chests as a symbol of unity.
