Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource Au coins des rues de l’Arbre-Sec et rue Saint-Honoré / At the corner of the streets «de l’Arbre-Sec» and Saint-Honoré / アルブル・セックとサント・ノーレ通り の角 Description An account of the resource Située à l’intérieur des anciennes portes de Paris, la longue rue Saint-Honoré part de l’Hôtel de ville. Elle est parallèle à la Seine et à la rue de Rivoli qui mène au Louvre et au Palais Royal. En suivant la rue Saint Honoré en direction du Châ�telet, on tombe dans la rue des Halles qui porte le nom de marché central de Paris. A partir de 1337, ce marché de gros s’étendait sur 7 hectares au cœur de Paris. Puis il est déplacé vers la banlieue parisienne en 1969. À cette époque, les occupants du quartier étaient des maraichers, des bouchers, des poissonniers. Aujourd’hui, les façades sont repeintes et le quartier abrite des boutiques de mode et des restaurants. Depuis toujours, cet ancien cœur de la capitale attire les touristes avec son architecture typique. Dans mon dessin, à l’angle, là où se situe ce vo�lailler, on imagine bien l’auberge de Ragueneau, célèbre pour ses pâtisseries. Edmond Rostand y fait référence au deuxième acte de Cyrano de Ber�gerac. Au premier plan, le rez-de-chaussée était occupé par une boucherie chevaline. Il paraît que le compositeur Wagner a vécu à l’étage de cet immeuble, lors de son séjour à Paris… Rue Saint Honoré is a long street starting from the City Hall within the old city wall. The Louvres Palace and The Palais Royal are located parallel to this street. The area north of this intersection is now a park but from 1137-69, 7 hectares of this area was used as Paris’ central market and many meat and food wholesalers and raw material shops were seen around this area. Today, the walls have been repainted and those shops have given way to pretty boutiques and restaurants. Most travellers choose to come to this area to see the old centre of Paris. The area remains as popular with travellers as it has always been. The location of the poultry wholesaler on the corner was depicted as Ragueneau’s restaurant/confectionary shop in the second act of Cyrano de Bergerac (translated by Takashi Tatsuno and Shintaro Suzuki).
