Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource Place Beauvau / Place Beauvau / ボーボー広場 Description An account of the resource Le quartier de la rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré est connu pour ses enseignes de luxe. Il est également célèbre, car il abrite la place Beauvau, résidence officielle du président de la République. À l’époque où la Royauté siégeait à Versailles, c’est à Paris, ville dynamique, que certains aristocrates et hommes de pouvoir choisirent de faire construire leurs résidences secondaires. Les terrains les plus recherchés se situaient sur les avenues menant aux portes de Paris depuis Versailles. La résidence du Président français est une ancienne construction, assez semblable à celles que l’on peut trouver en Angleterre, aux États-Unis ou au Japon. À proximité, on trouve de nombreux magasins de décoration et de produits de luxe, afin de répondre au goût des diplomates et résidants du quartier, mais, les simples passants n’osent s’y aventurer. Il y a encore peu de temps, on pouvait simplement se promener le long des rues bordant ces résidences officielles, mais depuis le 11 septembre et les menaces terroristes, les abords de ces résidences sont protégés par des chaînes et des policiers. Au centre de la sérigraphie ci-contre, figure l’entrée principale du Ministère de l’Intérieur. This is located in the centre of the famous and elegant shopping avenue, la Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, near the President’s mansion. When the royal residence was in Versailles, powerful nobles competed in building second homes in the big city, Paris. That is why the avenue starts just outside the gate of the rampart wall of old Paris and heads towards the road leading to Versailles. The current French presidential residence and the official residence of the UK, USA and Japanese embassies are the legacy of that history. Sophisticated shops of household goods and accessories opened along the avenue in order to attract the travelling nobles and this was how the world-famous elegant avenue began. These shops sell expensive designer-brand products and do not appear to be inviting for people who do not wish to purchase anything. What you can see in the centre of this piece is the main entrance gate of the French Ministry of the Interior. Once everyone was able to walk along this “world’s official residence avenue” freely, which I found to be the essence of Paris. However, since the September 11th 2001 attacks and Iraq war it has completely changed. Footpaths were separated off by chains and we can no longer enter the avenue.
