Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource Le toit de l’hôpital Necker / The roof of Necker Hospital / ネッケール病院の屋根 Subject The topic of the resource Sérigraphie, Hôpital Description An account of the resource C’est un hôpital situé dans le 15e, très reconnu pour son service en pédiatrie. C’est ici qu’Henry Rousseau, précurseur de l’Art Naïf, a été transporté avant d’y mourir. Il est normal que l’établissement ait cette renommée, car autrefois, dans l’abbaye, il y avait déjà un hôpital pour femmes et un orphelinat. Après la Révolution française, l’hôpital Necker naît du rassemblement de plusieurs hospices se trouvant à proximité. Félicitations à cet hôpital pour son histoire et ses recherches, car c’est ici que le professeur Laennec (1816-1923), invente le stéthoscope et découvre le principe de l’auscultation. A l’époque, on était persuadé qu’il était impossible d’écouter le son du corps de l’extérieur, alors que le stéthoscope est devenu par la suite le symbole du médecin. Bien que résidant à proximité, j’ai ignoré pendant longtemps l’existence de cet hôpital. Rénovés en 1840, le porche et le bâtiment principal qui donnent sur la rue sont restés tels quels depuis près de deux siècles. This is the hospital in the 15th arrondissement, a polyclinic renowned for its paediatric wing. It was to this hospital that Henri Rousseau, one of the forefathers of naïve art, was carried before he passed away. Its fame is no surprise because it was historically a convent and an orphanage, open since the beginning of the 18th century. Many charitable facilities merged to become the hospital Necker after the French Revolution. Professor Laennec, employed here from 1816-23, invented the stethoscope and established principles of its use at this hospital so I take my hat off to its history and research legacy.I hear there was a widespread conviction that it must be impossible to diagnose disease merely by listening outside the body at that time. They have spread so widely that they have become almost a trademark for physicians. I hadn’t known there this famous hospital was here for a long time even though I lived nearby.
