Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Il est achevé en avril 1973. Lorsque l’on arrive de l’aéroport à Paris, on passe obligatoirement par ce périphérique. Aujourd’hui, il existe une autre voie plus large, plus à l’extérieur permettant d’éviter les embouteillages dans Paris. Toutes les routes de France mènent à Paris. C’est en mars 1974 que la construction du Palais des congrès et de son hôtel sont achevés à la Porte Maillot, une des portes à l’ouest de Paris. La Chambre de Commerce a construit et gère ce bâtiment. Il est composé d’une grande salle de 3200 places et de salles plus petites pour divers événements. Les activités de la Chambre de Commerce ne consistent pas seulement à organiser des réunions ou des conférences grâce aux cotisations de ses membres. Elle administre également différents projets visant à encourager des actions locales, tout en réalisant des bénéfices. Elle gère aussi un aéroport au nord de Paris. Ce n’est pas ce que j’imaginais d’une Chambre de Commerce ! Ces dernières années, le Palais des Congrès se sentant à l’étroit, des travaux d’agrandissement sont réalisés en façade, mais l’aspect global du bâtiment n’a pas changé. Il abrite un centre commercial fréquenté exclusivement par les clients de l’hôtel. Les Parisiens viennent rarement ici. Pendant longtemps c’était un terrain vague sur lequel se trouvaient les vestiges de l’enceinte de Paris. Plus à l’ouest, un autre quartier d’affaires s’est construit au centre de la Défense. Bien plus animé que la Porte Maillot, il attire de nombreux habitants. Le grand magasin japonais Daimaru installé au Palais des Congrès au moment de son inauguration a quitté le lieu au bout de 25 ans. Boulevard Périphérique was built as the number of the cars was increasing. It was completed after being connected to the original, smaller, ring road network in April 1973. When entering Paris from the airport we never fail to drive along this ring road. Now there is an even larger outer route and we can avoid the traffic jams of the city. All roads in France are designed and constructed in such a way as to converge on central Paris.This International Conference Centre and hotel were completed in March 1974 as the western gateway to Paris. There is a grand hall with 3200 seats and numerous event rooms. They were built and are operated by the Paris Chamber of Commerce (a merchant union). They not only host conferences and seminars for those who had paid their membership but operate the local airport and take on various projects to promote regional development and other profit-making activities, very different from Japan. Expansion of the facade only was undertaken recently because the building had become cramped, the overall appearance of the building hasn’t changed however.Parisian do not choose to go there for shopping as this place used to be vacant and deserted place where only remains of castle walls were found. Further west, the business centre of La Défense was completed and has become a vibrant transport hub for suburbanites.
