Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Ce bâtiment, qui ressemble à une ferme, a été construit en 1801. Il y a 200 ans, il servait de logement, puis il a été divisé pour devenir un hôtel-bar. En 1920, il est transformé en hôtel bon marché pour les noirs venus des anciennes colonies de Jamaïque. Ils ont pris ce café, où se produisaient des musiciens de jazz, comme lieu de rendez-vous. Dans la même rue, sur le même trottoir, se trouve un atelier d’artistes où vécut le poète Robert Desnos, le peintre Miro ou encore André Masson. C’est en passant devant par hasard qu’ils ont découvert le Bal Nègre. Ils y ont fait venir les artistes de Montparnasse qui formeront l’Ecole de Paris en 1926. De grandes fêtes y sont organisées, le lieu devient rapidement célèbre et le tout Paris s’y retrouve. On raconte que le peintre Jules Pascin, en état d’ébriété, s’amusait à tirer au pistolet. On dit aussi que Joséphine Baker est venue y chanter. Aujourd’hui, c’est une ruelle qui se trouve dans un quartier résidentiel ordinaire. Le bâtiment au numéro 45 a été détruit pour devenir un parc dans lequel on trouve une grande sculpture en bronze de Miro. Mais au 33 de la rue Blomet, existe encore le café-jazz-club à l’allure champêtre. This translated to “Negro Ball.” Civil rights activists feel aggrieved by this name. This farmhouse style building was constructed in 1801 and more than 200 years have passed since then. At that time the house was a residence for ordinary people but then was renovated as a hotel and bar. Around 1920 it was turned into a cheap hotel where black workers from Jamaica lived. The café within the hotel was a meeting place for Jamaican workers and jazz was performed there. At number 45 on the same street there was a rental atelier for artists, and the poet Robert Desnos, the painters Jean Miró, André Masson and others lived there and those who passed by found it interesting. The École de Paris artists who had lived in Montparnasse were brought here from around 1926. They frequently held big parties which made it a famous place where fashionable society and celebrities of the time got together. The painter Pascin fired a pistol while drunk and Josephine Baker came here to sing.Currently it is an unexceptional residential area in a narrow backstreet.
