Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Title A name given to the resource Musée de l’Institut Pasteur / The Pasteur Museum / パスツール研究所博物館 Subject The topic of the resource Musée, Lithographie, Institut Pasteur Description An account of the resource Suite aux grandes découvertes mondiales dans le domaine des bactéries, de la fermentation et des vaccins, beaucoup de dons sont récoltés dans le monde entier pour permettre la création de l’Institut Pasteur. Il est inauguré en 1888 dans le 15e arrondissement de Paris. Au premier étage se trouvait le logement de Pasteur, au deuxième étage, le laboratoire qui servait aux étudiants-chercheurs. De l’autre côté de cette rue et aux alentours, le quartier est investi par les bâtiments de l’Institut Pasteur. L’empereur prussien gagne la guerre franco-allemande de 1870 et impose que la France verse une somme conséquente en dédommagement, ceci afin de l’empêcher de se relever économiquement. C’est impressionnant d’apprendre que la France a payé ces dédommagements en une année, et cela grâce aux découvertes et inventions de Pasteur. La principale source des bénéfices vient des brevets et des vaccins, mais l’Institut fonctionne aussi grâce aux subventions d’Etat et aux dons. Il faut beaucoup d’efforts pour récolter ces dons et figurer sur la liste des donateurs est une façon de redorer son blason. En 2013, un nouveau bâtiment de l’Institut est inauguré en présence du président de la République mais aussi, des donateurs qui étaient, bien évidemment, invités. Aujourd’hui, le bâtiment principal est devenu un musée dédié à Louis Pasteur. Sa femme y a vécu jusqu’en 1910, longtemps après la mort de Pasteur. Au sous-sol se trouve le caveau dans lequel repose le couple. Une polémique a éclaté concernant le transfert de sa sépulture au Panthéon, mais, finalement, il ne bougera pas d’ici. Pasteur made great discoveries in the field of germs, fermentation and vaccines and in 1888, in his later years, donations from all over the world were made to open l’Institut Pasteur at its current location in the 15th arrondissement. The King of Prussia, who won the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, imposed much reparation but, thanks to the discoveries and inventions of Pasteur, they paid him in one year which was remarkable. The second floor is the apartment of Pasteur and on the third is the laboratory with researchers’ desks. Across the street and around the area this district is filled with the buildings of l’Institut Pasteur. Though it is based on the revenues of patents and vaccines it is run on national subsidies and donations. The institute is keen to raise further funds through activities and having one’s names listed as a donor confirms one’s standing in Parisian society. In 2013 the President of France visited and they held a ceremony to open a new laboratory building. Of course donors were invited.Now the main building is the museum related to Pasteur himself but his wife enjoyed a long life until 1910. The couple are buried in a crypt beneath the museum.
