Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. D’année en année, elles ont été démolies et remplacées par des immeubles, phénomène qui se poursuit encore aujourd’hui. Lors de la construction de ces nouveaux immeubles et afin d’élargir la chaussée, les devantures ont été reculées de quelques mètres. Un nouvel espace vert a ainsi été créé, ce qui a changé l’aspect de la ville. Je trouve ce projet de transformation de la ville à long terme très intelligent. Ces maisons, à l’aspect de demeure du 19e siècle, disparaissent aussi petit à petit de la ville. L’eau de Javel est un décolorant obtenu à partir de chlorure de chaux. En 1777, le comte d’Artois a l’autorisation de construire une usine consacrée à ce nouveau produit qui sera commercialisé sous ce nom. Son origine vient du port de Javel qui enjambait la Seine dans ce quartier. On trouve dans les supermarchés ce produit pratique et indispensable pour le ménage domestique et le nettoyage des vêtements. En 2008, demeure toujours la polémique sur l’usage de l’eau de Javel dans les usines de poulets aux Etats-Unis. L’utiliser comme désinfectant juste après avoir déplumé les poulets est jugé particulièrement nocif. C’est une des raisons de la guerre économique, car l’importation de ces poulets en Europe est interdite. When I first came to Paris there were many two- and three-storey houses in the style of farm houses in the surrounding arrondissements. They are being demolished and apartment buildings are being built now.New buildings are permitted to be constructed after public streets are widened little by little so green spaces are created and over time it becomes transformed into a modern city style. This long-term planning changes the town tastefully which is impressive. Houses which call to mind the 19th century have been gradually disappearing from the city.Eau de Javel means chlorine bleach, and the Comte d’Artois got the permission in 1777 to build a bleach factory as a new industry around here to start selling it as “eau de Javel.” It is sold at supermarkets today and is indispensable for washing and cleaning and it was named after the port on the Seine nearby. Poultry processing factories in the USA use this chlorine for sterilization after removing feathers so their product is not permitted to be imported to Europe.
